There will be no Southport Hesketh Round Table bonfire this year.
Dan Hubbard the Chairman explains...
You may have noticed we haven’t advertised this year, there are no posters, no large banners, no Facebook campaign...
Unfortunately this year we have made the very difficult decision not to go ahead with our Charity Fireworks & Bonfire event this year.
To put it simply, we are gutted 😔 We love doing the event, & we hate letting you down.
The team of volunteers that run the bonfire started working on the 2018 event back in April, booking all the major attractions etc. In early September, through no fault of our own we were faced with a significant change in circumstances affecting the event. We spent considerable time working with everyone, doing everything we could to make this year’s event happen.
However, given the timescales and the nature of the challenges; we felt that we couldn’t deliver an event that we were happy with, nor one that the thousands of people that have supported the event over the years have become used to.
We felt there was no option but to cancel this year’s event and plan to come back bigger and better 2019!
We are very much aware that this an established and very popular family event, and we will miss running it as much as many of you will miss the event itself. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause, and hope that everyone enjoys their bonfire night this year!
No doubt there will be lots of other great community fireworks and bonfire displays in the area for families to enjoy over next weekend, such as Southport Rugby Club, the Lakeside Church and the Halsall Bonfire Party to name but a few... round tables all over the country will also be putting on great displays!
We would like to thank our sponsors, suppliers, local businesses and most importantly the families from Southport who turn up in their thousands for all the support we have been given over the years; without it, such events would not be possible.
We will be back in 2019…
But don’t worry, we’ve still plenty to do! Concentrating our efforts in to taking Pudsey out & about for Children in Need, the Santa Float & Mad Dog 9 - Bark to the Future!
All our events are run entirely by volunteers, if you fancy getting involved then please get in touch.
