At last clear signage has been erected at Central 12 in Southport to confirm that the first two hours of parking is free.

The move is believed to be as a result of McDonalds about to open a third site in the town at Central 12.

Been earlier this afternoon and the machines were covered up, with a temporary notice on them just stating: "Free Parking".

Lidl achieved a similar result at their Virginia Street outlet many years ago to get rid of the Sefton MBC parking wardens and provide free parking.

Confirmation and publishing of the legal position might be interesting.

The Lidl carpark has never been a Pay n display it like most others is now a camera monitored site.

Nothing to do with McDs it was a change of ownership of the site.

Incorrect. When Lidl first moved onto the site there were parking charges and the council's wardens were in control.
