More fly-tipping in Southport town centre this time in Booth Street.

At last weeks area committee meeting it was voted through by 15 votes to one to provide a £45 skip for the Bath Street area.

The only Councillor to vote against this was David Barton who said...

"I've done my research and skips are a magnet for the wrong type of people"

Cllr Barton also said " I object to this skip as there is nobody to police them"

Could someone explain what's special about Bath Street that the normal collection isn't suitable? As although fly tipping is not desirable, dropping skips everywhere that the bins are too small in the "classic resort" also isn't a great idea long term as you'll have the skip divers and to some extent they will need monitoring to ensure emptied and you can guarantee as soon as taken away the fly tipping will resume.

Bath Street area does have bins though, maybe when he's back from his "working holiday" Cllr Dawson can confirm this:

If this was published by one of our councillors then we should think how petty our council has become, how can we trust them to improve the town if they're constantly sniping at each other with stories and comments on the other site. Prasnee has been quieter of late though so maybe they are starting to realise they don't enhance the reputation of their party.

Anybody who rents out skips for 45 quid will end up living in one, unless they are a member of the travelling community.

Prasnee quiet at the same time Dawson is on holiday. Well who'd have thought it!

Barton is right planting skips is not the answer it will just become a satellite tip and be filled very quickly.
Then what a constant replacement ?

Exactly, rather than just target one councillor please can we "call upon" the 15 councillors who voted for this (and maybe the one that submitted this story) answer:

    1) how will the ensure it won't end up like this:
    http://www.southportvisiter.co.uk/ne...-photo-9181822

As would be like a 24hr tip open to all

    2) where can I hire a skip for £45 as that seems like a really good price?
