Merseyside Police is supporting a new specialist support group for the families dealing with the challenges of gender diversity.

Mermaids launced its Merseyside group on Saturday 22 April with the aim of achieving the best possible outcome for gender variant children and young people.

The provision of local support groups is one of the key components of the service Mermaids will provide.

Mermaids is supported by Barclays and other national and local organisations, including Merseyside Police.

Merseyside Police will work closely with Mermaids and in partnership with other Trans+ networks to demonstrate a real commitment to a better society for Trans+ young people.

Chief Inspector Paul Court of Merseyside Police said: "We are proud to be supporting the launch of Mermaids on Merseyside.

"We have made a clear commitment to the Trans Community and our partnership with Mermaids goes some way to achieving it. This is part of our wider community-first ethos

"We wish Mermaids in Merseyside every success in supporting young people and their families and we are looking forward to working with them."

Jan Sampson of Mermaids Merseyside said: “Mermaids is passionate about achieving the best possible outcome for gender variant children and young people, and the provision of local support groups is one of the key components to the service we provide.

"Our aim is to forge stronger links within the community to enable young people and their families to access vital services when needed and by being supported by Barclays and other national and local organisations, including Merseyside Police shows we are part of a bigger network of support for our young people”

The last thing a family with a mixed up teen would want is some weirdo coming round dressed as a woman telling the kid its ok to be weird and its not a bad thing in fact its normal.
This just looks to me like a license for weirdo's to get access to young kids and twist them worse.

Oh.. and I don't hate anyone, I think all this nonsense is just daft until the safety of children / young teens is in question.

All these rainbow flags rainbow cars pink fire engines are a waste of much needed funds the Emergency Services are there for EVERYONE and shouldn't be singling out sections of society for support.
There was one idiot the other week I was reading about who thinks children should not be labelled HE or SHE until they are old enough to decide the gender they want to be. Why are the bleeding morons given the oxygen of media coverage.

As a tax/ratepayer I seriously object to my contributions being used by the police on anything except policing
