Sefton Council’s newly elected Mayor, Cllr Iain Brodie Browne, will be visiting five beautiful Birkdale and Hillside gardens on Sunday, June 5, as part of the ‘National Gardens Scheme’.

Cllr Brodie Browne, a Birkdale councillor for the last 14 years, is a keen gardener himself and also has an allotment at the Birkdale Irrigation allotments.

The National Gardens Scheme operates each year and sees gardens open to the public to raise over £2m a year for nursing and caring charities and local good causes. For the Birkdale gardens any money raised will go towards the Southport Lifeboat and Birkdale Civic Society.

Full details of the five Birkdale gardens open this Sunday may be found by visiting www.ngs.org.uk and searching for 'Southport'.

Details of other Southport gardens open later in the year may also be found at the same website.
