Following their announcement on 14th February, Hesketh Bank Parish Council has today released a picture of Maureen and Terry Baldwin, who were presented with awards as part of its ‘Love Hesketh Bank’ campaign.
The campaign, designed to celebrate what is great about the village, launched on 14th February 2014 and this year sees the second round of awards recognising individuals that have made an outstanding contribution to the village, showing their love for Hesketh Bank.
Maureen Baldwin received the award for her many years of service on the Parish Council and Hesketh Bank Community Centre, both of which she stood down from in 2016. Maureen served for eight years on the Parish Council, during which time she produced regular newsletters and played a key role in the development of the Poor Marsh Allotments and Community Garden.
Terry Baldwin received his award for being the first Chairman of Becconsall U3A, which is hosted by Hesketh Bank Community Centre and now boasts 140 members. He will stand down from his post later this year.
Both are pictured in the Community Garden outside the Community Centre wearing the Love Hesketh Bank pin badges that were presented to them by Councillor Diane Earles.
Upon receiving the award, they said, "This was a real surprise but it is nice to know that our efforts are appreciated.” Let’s hope the two enjoy retirement, knowing they have done some sterling work for the community.
Speaking about the winners, Paul Sergeant, Chairman of the Parish Council, said “This is our way of recognising the efforts of individuals who have put a lot in to Hesketh Bank over the years and saying thank you on behalf of all the residents.”
