The man who died in a fire at Shorrocks Hill in Formby earlier today (Thursday, 25 August) is believed to be Andrew Coogan, although we must stress that at this stage no formal identification has taken place. Officers have spoken to the family of Mr Coogan.
Merseyside Police can confirm officers attended a fire in Formby along with colleagues from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service this morning (Thursday, 25 August 2016).
Investigators at the scene can now confirm that the deceased man was found in the stables, not a caravan as first stated.
Emergency services were called to Shorrocks Hill Country Club, Lifeboat Road to reports of a fire at stables at about 5.40am.
The fire, which has been extinguished by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, completely destroyed the stable building and a caravan.
On arrival firefighters entered the caravan and found the body of a man inside. Formal identification is yet to take place. A number of horses (8) were found to have died in the stables.
The cause of the man’s death is not yet known and a joint Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
The scene has been cordoned off for examination and house-to-house enquiries are underway.
No-one else has been reported injured. Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 3055 or on the 101 number. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The guy that owns Shorrocks Hill is no stranger to property fires. The company Ascot Properties Group is owned by Terrance Riley who also owned the Kingsway site before that fire and has had several arson attacks against his properties and homes !

Why ? It is all very public knowledge. We can only hope that it was a tragic accident and not another hate campaign against Riley and his partner John Ball, as it put a lot of people at risk the last time it happened !

Nothing suspicious to report according to Merseyside Police. Do any of the names above purport to involve libel in any way or is it ok as it's SGB and all that...
Just saying

Whatevever happenened, I hope that man was in a deep, deep sleep. I cannot stop thinking about the horses who must have been petrified. Surely they must have been making a lot of noise? Enough to make a human wake? God bless them all.

So could any of the "experts" in planning posting above tell us how these stables being burn't down facilitates a successful planning application ?
As is clear the Kingsway Fire hasn't lead to the large mixed use scheme they wanted.
