It’d be nice if our MP and local councillors don’t try mixing local politics and government as they’re very different and neither influences other, if it did I’m sure wed have Dawson and Shaw telling us Bootle labour are ruling the country.

As a community we’d be far better with independents who want to make the town better rather than the petty party politics that is peddled, e.g. who’s got the least political litter pick organised. Still remember when in political exile his short lived statement of

“The people of Southport are more interested in what councillors can do for their town than the internal issues of political parties.“

Which lasted less time than it took him to overthrow Cllr Maguire from the party and all future non political (yet appear in most Lib Dem campaign) litter picks, it’d be much better if they are clearer on that as its a great community thing to do but it’s overshadowed when they spend time denying it.

As for Damien Moore he’s disappointingly become John Pugh, meaninglessness soundbites and photo ops, wonder if he’ll get 16 years of this with a MASSIVE pension for “service to Southport”

The LibDims have learned the genuine truth which is that those that people vote for tend to be the ones whose names they are familiar with. In other words, get your name and photo in the newspapers (and on local web sites) as often as possible . It makes little difference if it is good news or bad news about you as the voters will only remember your name.
Whether you like it or not, that is the way it works. How otherwise did the likes of Dawson ever get elected? Based upon his likeability factor he would never even get elected to run the office tea rota.
