MP for Southport John Pugh has been deluged with the enquiries and concerns of constituents worried or uncertain about the consequences of last Thursdays vote.
Mr Pugh is planning to take on additional staff to help address the issues arising from last weeks vote.
The MP said
"Apart from the huge questions of Britain's future and the possible break up of the UK , people are asking about pensions, shares, jobs abroad and here, time shares etc.
"The most extreme case has been about the status of an elderly European woman with dementia who has lived here over 50 years but not taken British citizenship."
"As an MP, I have the advantage of access to the civil service and official sources but the truth in some cases will be that no-one for now knows the answer. And whether people voted or or against exit from the EU, they should be able to get answers".
"Frankly, there is little clarity from the government even on key issues like migrant labour, with some Brexit politicians suggesting there will be no real change".
"There is a strong sense in Westminster that nobody is really in charge and no-one knows what will happen next".
"I have never known such a shambles in my lifetime".
"There is also a very strong case for putting a new deal on Europe back to the British public, either through a General Election or second referendum."

It is my understanding that before the EU exit process can be triggered under Article 50, there must first be the approval of the UK Parliament.
Before the referendum John Pugh stated that he is a "Remainer". In the referendum Sefton voted in favour of Remain.
Therefore when it comes to the time to vote John, unlike many MPs, will be in the fortunate position of being able to vote against exit and be able to act in accordance with both his own conscience (as our representative) and the stated wish of his constituents.

He's not a MP for Sefton but what I would like him to find out is how many SOUTHPORT voters for which he is a MP voted for out,the betting being that it far out voted the remainer's.

Does it matter? The economy is sinking like a rock at the minute and there is no one to steer the ship. The title of PM will be a poison chalice screwed if they trigger Article 50 screwed if they don't. The country has become a laughing stock. We haven't even begun negotiating with the EU yet. But hey at least people got their freedom and the immigrants will be stopped (not of those promises are true just a load of lies)

Will any of these additional staff have "Grass Mowing Responsibilities" on there job spec?

I see gwailo has crawled out from under his stone. You lost, old boy. Put another way, you came second in a two horse race. Which bit of that are you struggling to understand?

Jog on you utter dolt. Xenophobic attacks and racism being reported everywhere. Congrats you won a competition that even the people who lead it didn't want to win. You actually think they are going to trigger Article 50 now? You must be as intelligent as Boris...

Nobody has yet won or lost anything. It remains to be seen who the actual winners or losers from Brexit will be but it will have little to do with how they voted.
Or do you envisage some tow tier future where huge pay rises are awarded only to those who voted leave whilst the remainers are consigned to the workhouse. Actually you probably do.

I see the losers are as vitriolic and obnoxious now as they were during the campaign itself.
More please gentlemen. This is fun.

I like the bit about getting a new deal with Europe.
When will Pugh and his fellow Remainers get it into their heads that the EU hates us !! They have always hated us and want us out !
As for the racist and xenophobic attacks - i see no more now than there was before ! I see everyone just going about their business as normal. The only ones i don't see working are the MPs who are creating much ado about nothing rather than getting down to running the country !!
And as for the markets etc - we always knew they would suffer if we exited. They always fluctuate at such announcements. Yes we may enter a recession again. But it won't last forever. Frankly i don't see a difference between now and the last recession !

The economy is not 'sinking like a rock'. There has been an adjustment - as there always is as a reaction to uncertainty. Markets will always find their right level and will eventually re-adjust.
As for John Pugh - and the rest of the local Liberal Democrats - they got it wrong (as usual) and mis-judjed the local feeling.
As abbeyroad said, the losers are vitriolic and obnoxious. There has been a democratic exercise; if you don't like the result, Easyjet and Ryanair fly to most European destinations, most of which I am sure would welcome you if you find the UK and its democratic majority so unpalatable. The leave campaign won: grow up, accept the result and move on. All this harping and moaning won't do any of us any good.

We are now free and we should bin all the EUSSR laws as soon as possible. we should privatise the Railways and have pounds and ounces. To all the Remainders (moaners) I would like to say " If the EUSSR means so much to you then why not go and live in one of the 27 failed countries".

Good luck with that, if that's what you think you were voting for.
