Is Southport's new MP is breaking parliamentary rules? Damian Moore is using parliamentary stationery and postage paid for by the taxpayer to 'trawl' for people wanting to come and take a tour around Parliament with him.
Parliamentary 'rules' make plain that Parliamentary stationery should only be used for official correspondence necessary to the performance of an MP's parliamentary duties. You read the rules and you decide:
MPs get an allowance of £9000 per year for MP's stationery - although if they want to, they can spend more on this item from other Parliamentary expenses. But this postage and stationery should only be used on strict parliamentary duties.
So, who in Southport is Damian Moore targeting for his 'take tea on the terrace with your £85,000 per year tour guide' mailings? It appears that the MP may also be selecting names and addressed of people who have written to him about other matters as a database to 'target' his misuse of stationery. If this is so, it would be a breach of the Data Protection Act.

To be fair, I assumed it was to encourage people to take part in politics more and consider becoming MP’s. I may be wrong, but what other reason would local residents be invited to London by a local MP?

Could somebody point out for me where in this letter it says the words "tea on the terrace".
It's every constituents right to be given a tour by their MP as I did when the previous MP was in office.
Just a thought but is it merely coincidence that these nonsensical 'stories' seemed to coincide with the return of the oaf that is Cllr Dawson to the Lib Dems.

The letters do not state the tour will be with Damien Moore either. Other letters advise to contact a person called Guy Devito to arrange a tour. Maybe Mr Devito got fed up with everyone emailing him and has asked Mr Moore to book them in himself.

I was pleased to receive a questionnaire from Mr Moore’s office over the weekend with regard to a number of various issues of concern for Southport. Good to see our MP being pro-active in getting the opinions of constituents in ways to improve the town. Parking fees in the town is an issue he raises, as well as infrastructure proposals and crime.
