The Royal Clifton Hotel has joined the growing numbers of businesses in the resort to back the town’s Dementia Friendly campaign.
Staff at the hotel have undertaken specialist training which allows them to better understand the needs of those living with varying degrees of dementia.
Councillor Pat Keith, who spearheads the Southport Dementia Friendly campaign with Southport MP John Pugh, said: “I’m delighted that the Royal Clifton is leading the way and I hope other hotels follow.
Southport is a tourist destination and a seaside resort. All the research clearly outlines the boost to peoples’ health and well-being when they spend time on the coast.
“The Dementia Friendly campaign is helping to break down barriers and reduce stigma and extend a welcome to everyone so that they can enjoy the health benefits of Southport.”
