The amazing GIANT LEGO® brick animal trail, the only one of its kind in the UK, is returning to WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre this spring with three NEW friends including Sam the Short-eared Owl.

This new model was unveiled at Martin Mere. It took an amazing 80 hours to build with an incredible 37,884 LEGO bricks.

Fourteen GIANT 4ft (1.5m) LEGO brick sculptures will be returning to the centre in Lancashire for 6 weeks from Wednesday 9 May to Sunday 24 June, all inspired by real species at WWT Martin Mere. Included are a large North American River Otter, a Hawaiian Goose (Nene), the world’s rarest goose, a giant Kingfisher, frog and a flamingo, plus new models that include a white stork, an owl and a water vole.

These magnificent LEGO brick models were created by south-east based Bright Bricks, the UK’s only certified LEGO professionals, and Tom Poulsom, the famous LEGO brick ‘birdman’. In total 253,728 LEGO bricks were used to make all 14 wetland characters. Through this trail, WWT is using the world’s most popular toy to encourage kids (and big kids) to build a better future for nature.

LEGO fans (young and old) will be able to enjoy exploring the grounds to find all of the characters, winning a sticker for finding all fourteen.

Nick Brooks, Martin Mere General Manager, said: “We are very excited to welcome back these amazing LEGO® brick animals to Martin Mere for the spring. The GIANT wetland characters look fantastic, especially the three new additions, our visitors were amazed by them when they were here for summer 2016 and I think the extended trail will be even more popular this year. They’re a really fun way to highlight some of the animals WWT helps to protect, such as the iconic Nene and our otters.”

As well as the trail, budding sculptors can take part in creative fun and games at exclusive LEGO brick workshops at weekends and during half term, get creative at our LEGO brick play table and build mini-figures. All proceeds will support WWT’s essential conservation work in the UK and around the world.

There is no extra cost to meet the giant LEGO brick animals at WWT Martin Mere, the trail is included in the admission price. Places for the workshops can be pre-booked online. To find out more search Martin Mere.
