Aldi's impressive new Burscough store opens bright and early on Thursday.

Mayor Liz Savage will be doing the honours to kick off the grand opening weekend to celebrate the opening; a number of special buys are specially reduced for the occasion.

There will be lots of bargains not to be missed, and golden tickets handed out to the first hundred customers at the opening with prizes from a smart TV to hampers made up of some of Aldi’s finest products to be won.

Staff were seen yesterday evening stacking the shelves full of bargains - the new store will complement the offer from Booths and is a perfect picture of what folk are calling 'booming Burscough'; Peacocks are moving in to a new store that'll open in May while Bidvest is having an impressive new office block built in the far corner of the retail park as it moves from its cramped Scarisbrick site.

An Aldi PR reads: "The new store's created over 20 jobs with in the local community, a number which we hope to expand on and we will be working with local schools and businesses to become a valued part of the village.

"To celebrate the opening day, there will be lots going on at the store on 23rd February including face painting for the children and free tea, coffee and sandwiches and other amazing events.

"We would like to invite you, your families and friends all to come along to help celebrate our opening as we are proud to become part of your community."
