This sounds a very interesting event - and our thanks to Robert (Bob) Ireland for the story...
'Roger, I was hoping you might give us some publicity on QLocal about the forthcoming Founders Lecture and Luncheon at Hurlston Hall Golf Club, Scarisbrick, on Sunday 18th February, 1pm.
'It's entitled 'The Ormskirk Strike 1913', and presented by Patricia Ireland. The Manchester Guardian, 24th June 1913, described this strike by thousands of farm labourers in West Lancashire as "one of the strongest conflicts in modern industrial warfare."
It had far-reaching consequences, both within and outside the area, yet is now largely forgotten, followed as it was, a year later, by the outbreak of World War 1.
Thank you,
Bob Ireland, West Lancashire Heritage Association.

Over one hundred years ago and two world wars and we still have these problems which are unproductive to all concerned, very sad.
