A group of disabled people enjoying a day out in Southport as part of the Everton In The Community project had their minibus ticketed by a heartless Traffic Warden today.
Parked on the Promenade and displaying a disabled badge and having the words "REMEMBERING THE HILLSBOROUGH 96" prominently displayed the minibus was ticketed for the wrong time.
The EITC is a Charity doing great work for disadvantaged people.

Why should this vehicle be treated any differently to any other vehicle not correctly displaying a ticket or time? Surely the driver is totally responsible in his negligence, just like anybody else would be. And quite frankly why you choose to mention the Hillsborough aspect is beyond me. It has no relevance.

Just taken £35 out of a children's charity funding, I agree driver is to blame but maybe he has a challenging job ushering disabled kids back dead on time, warden should have had a bit of compassion ABOVE his job and cracked on he didn't spot it, maybe some would, terrible people doing terrible job, once a traffic warden you will be known by all your mates acquaintances and the general public as a shite bag and ostracised by all.. Forevermore, and furthermore as long as you stay local people will drive past you with faces of hate, distaste and shame on you, I would rather starve than do this job rather throw a pound down the grid and walk into town than put it in a ticket machine that funds you in this low work.

That much is true..
However, the vehicle is clearly sign written with Variety Club & Charity/Community livery & therefore provides mobility for the less fortunate within our society.....the last thing they need is a bloody parking fine to pay.
A jobsworth obeying the letter of the law, to the absolute letter, in this case driver error or otherwise is frankly nauseous.

I agree that maybe the parking warden could have been a little more lenient. But who knows whether they were lenient or not? We were not there and therefore dont know the circumstances. Maybe, just maybe, they gave 5 or 10 mins grace and then issued the ticket. We will never know. But they don't have to, and they're obligation is to issue a ticket if justtified.
What really annoys me, is the insistence of the 'reporters' of Qlocal to post this 'news'. This isn't news, it's a daily aspect of life in all cities and towns the world over. It's old hat. They think it's report-worthy because it happened to a charity. They wouldn't report an able bodied person getting a fine for incorrectly displaying a ticket, so why post this report?
Come on Qlocal, give us a response.....

Blame the driver and not the traffic warden.
Just because it's a charity bus doesn't mean it is exempt from the parking rules others abide by.

The vehicle had been there for some time and the warden has passed it a number of times and given chances, the blue badge expiry date was covered up and that could of been covered up for a reason for example it had run out or it was done unintentionally but either way it was the drivers fault so before you all start slagging the warders off get the facts first, if someone was parked across your driveway or you couldn't get down your street because some idiot can't park properly you'd be shouting out for them to do their job,

They're not exactly short of money, charities tend to have plenty of cash.! And they're sponsored by Everton so can afford the £35. And as it says on the back of the mini- bus, that is 5357th Sunshine Coach.! So let's not be too sympathetic...

Why exactly does the community department of a multi million pound business need to be a charity?

Was the traffic warden either a Man Utd or a Liverpool fan, hence issuing the ticket ?

Using this logic we can all stop donating to charity now then?
