People from across the Liverpool City Region are being invited to come and experience the new trains coming to the Merseyrail network in 2020.

A realistic, full-scale replica of one of the carriages will be on public view on the Wirral and in Liverpool City Centre during autumn 2018.

The mock-up features working electronic doors and sliding step technology, which automatically bridges the gap between the station and platform edge – making the trains fully accessible to users in wheelchairs.

Come and see the mock-up at:
    Liverpool Lime Street, L1 1JD:
    5-18 November, Mon-Sun 7.00 to 18.30

Your new trains: what to expect
Arriving in 2020, and with a wide range of new customer focussed features and functions, your new, state-of-the-art trains will be better for the City Region, better for all of us.

The trains are being built and maintained by Swiss-based manufacturer, Stadler, and
will replace the near 40-year-old fleet that currently runs on the network – one of the oldest in the UK.

The trains will be bought and owned by Merseytravel meaning that they are being designed specifically to suit our rail network, with features local people have said they want to see.

    Key features:-

The new trains will be safer – most notably in the ease in which everyone can get on and off, and will also make Merseyrail the most accessible traditional network in the country.
The trains will be able to carry more than 50 per cent more passengers while retaining the same number of seats. This will help them better cater for rising passenger numbers, both now and in the future.
The trains will be faster, cutting journey times by 10 per cent – up to eight minutes on some end-to-end routes.
The trains will have the capabilities to eventually run beyond the current Merseyrail boundaries to places like Skelmersdale, Wrexham and Warrington, meeting the ambitions of the Liverpool City Region’s Long Term Rail Strategy.

The £460m new trains’ project also includes infrastructure upgrades to power supplies, platforms and track, as well as refurbishment of the depots at Kirkdale and Birkenhead North and the on-going maintenance of the trains.

I remember when we use to build our own trains. Now we are a third world country we build nothing. What a joke we are 20 years plus to build HS2 , the Chinese would have this built in less time and the trains would run a lot faster. Next we will be importing coal to new castle, sorry we do that. Uk Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha finished RIP

    Wow, what a sad outlook.
Always "I can remember when" .
    It's such a boring cliche.
Get a life , I'm getting old also
    but recognise things change and
    embrace it.
There's an awful lot out there I'm
envy of and wish it had been there
when I was young and it's great to
    see the younger generation enjoying
    themselves.

I take it that you think is ok to have a country that is bankrupt and the young will be paying off the debt for the next 100 years. I take it that you think is acceptable that they are in debt because of learning. I take it you think is acceptable that the young can never afford a home and have zero hour contracts. I take it you think is Ok that the young will not get anything like a descent pension. I have a life unlike the young who will never have a secure job for life. The younger generation have had there future stolen by spineless Governments who have only cared about the short term and selling out to feather there own nests.

Help, you seem to TAKE an awful lot.
It has never ever been possible to
have a " job for life" kidology fed to the
    masses by unions.
Who said the country is bankrupt ,read it in the newspaper? Then it must be true.
There's a lot of good about ,yes there are problems
but nothing has changed there. Overall it's fairly
    good.
