Firefighters were called to a kitchen fire in a house in Vaughan Road, Birkdale, on Monday, December 11.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called and crews were alerted at 8.27pm. They were on the scene at 8.34pm.

Two fire engines attended the incident, which is believed to have involved a grill pan in the kitchen.

Crews used a CO2 extinguisher to put out the fire and ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan.

The grill sustained severe fire damage and a cupboard was also damaged by fire. The rest of the kitchen was lightly damaged by smoke.

One person, who suffered severe smoke inhalation, was taken to hospital by ambulance for precautionary checks.

Firefighters remained at the scene for around half an hour.
