A series of micro seismic events in Blackpool have been recorded on the British Geological Survey website following hydraulic fracturing at our shale gas exploration site in Preston New Road, Lancashire.
The largest recorded was 1.5ML (local magnitude) at about 11.20am. This occurred after hydraulic fracturing had finished for the day. According to recent research by the University of Liverpool the impact would be like dropping a melon. A series of smaller micro seismic events occurred during hydraulic fracturing, beginning at about 9.40am.
Cuadrilla will pause and continue to monitor micro seismicity for at least the next 18 hours, in line with the traffic light system regulations. Well integrity has been checked and verified.

Why don’t they just give up, pack their stuff away, go home and stop destroying our environment. The progress they’ve made at this rate is comical. Maybe they could try arranging p*** up’s in breweries instead.

Apparently the reading that stopped production is equivalent to dropping a Melon, I shall be campaigning in Tesco's later to ban melons.
I wonder if we should publish the readings from the mining that currently happens to put this in perspective.

Damage to the Environment ?? What is the damage they have caused?? Unlike the great unwashed and obviously unemployed who spend their time blocking Preston New Road and using up valuable Police resources. Try organising a cattle train to take the Eco Warriors back to whatever part of the country they come from they'll be needing a wash by now.

This is from Radio Lancs twitter yesterday.
The energy firm @CuadrillaUK has told BBC Radio Lancashire its work at the Preston New Road site has led to "the most extraordinary find". It says the rock is very suitable for fracturing, gas came out very early from minimal fracking and it's a "tremendous opportunity" for jobs.
A couple of years ago, I was marshalling a sponsored walk near Maghull, and a local asked me to sign a petition to stop a windfarm being built as it was in a field behind his house. If we object to windfarms, and object to removing gas in an extremely controlled manner, which is much less disruptive than coalmining, how do you think we can provide affordable power for the future? Woodburners are not the answer as they are extremely polluting. I am not saying that fracking is the be all and end all answer, but we need a continuous energy source, and with current global instabilities, if our energy can be sourced from within the UK so much the better.
