    A caravan detached from a car on Preston New Road this afternoon and smashed into a tree.The caravan is severely damaged. Fortunately there were no injuries in the incident.

    You are not allowed to carry passengers in a caravan whilst it is being towed, so there would be no occupants.

    The Alko coupling is the raised (unlocked) position which indicates the caravan may not have been correctly connected to the towbar, and the lack of skid marks indicates that the breakaway cable (which activates the caravan brakes in the event of a detachment) may not have been correctly connected.

    The owner may have a problem with insurance.

    Yes ,We understood that and referring to Driver and Occupants in Vehicle,we know that no passengers allowed in moving towed vehicle, so,are all ok, Thanks,

    I was driving behind the caravan when this happened , and it was late morning not afternoon, I was on my way tI Leyland to attend a speed awareness coarse.

    You know there might be something in the cyclist theory - after all the caravan does appear to be on the footpath!
