WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre is quite literally flying open their doors this half term with a range of pumpkin activities and the latest attraction: Broomstick Flight Training.



Half term activities are on from Saturday 21 – Tuesday 31 October with the pumpkin hunt continuing until 5 November.

Learn to fly a broomstick before taking to the sky and flying the perilous journey from Iceland to Martin Mere, following the swans and dodging obstacles as you go along. Can you land at Martin Mere safely to get your souvenir picture and a broomstick pilot licence? This activity is included in admission price but you will need to pick up a free ticket from the information desk when you arrive. Activity times are 10.30am, 11.15am, 12 noon, 1.30pm, 2.15pm and optional 3pm.

Centre Manager, Nick Brooks said: “Our visitors always love Halloween, so this half term we thought we’d give families something a little bit extra by adding the Broomstick Flight Activity so our visitors can see how a Whooper swan copes with the migration from Iceland to Martin Mere – whilst also having plenty of fun. It is going to be a popular new attraction.”

In addition, you can take part in a range of spooky family activities including diving straight into the Halloween spirit and come carve your own pumpkin with the kids. Creating your own scary faces! It’s only £3 a pumpkin or two for £5; explore the grounds to find our hidden pumpkins for a chocolate treat (50p pumpkin hunt); come and see our family of otters out and about during the feeds at 11.30am and 2.30pm and the white storks feed at 2pm; make spooky crafts in the craft room between 1pm and 4pm; and take to the water on the canoe safari and boat tours before it closes for the winter.
