West Lancashire Borough Council staff have been working hard over the Christmas and New Year period to provide vital services to local people.
The Council's Home Care Link Service has been supporting its 6,500 vulnerable customers over the Christmas break, continuing to provide an excellent service 24 hours a day.
The service aims to promote independence so they can stay in their own homes. Clients are given a call button which is linked to the Council's monitoring centre through the client's telephone landline. When the alarm is raised highly-skilled Home Care Link operators respond to get people the help they need.
Over the festive period Home Care Link staff also provided information and assistance for out of hours council repairs, to the emergency services, and other agencies such as out of hours social services.
The Council's Housing team dealt with 114 repair jobs including heating repairs over the festive period.
Street Scene Services continued to collect refuse and recyclable waste from approximately 48,000 homes across the borough, and keeping our streets free of litter.
The Council's CCTV operators played their part in keeping West Lancashire's street's safe by assisting with 147 incidents between 22 December to 1 January. This includes work which led to 11 arrests.
Councillor Ian Moran, Leader of West Lancashire Borough Council, said: "I am very grateful to all the Council staff who worked hard over the Christmas and new year period to provide vital services to people across the Borough of West Lancashire. They have shown great commitment to their jobs and to working for the people of West Lancashire."
As well as providing essential services over Christmas the Council also organised for Ormskirk Market to take place on its usual days. Beacon Park Golf Course was also running under reduced hours, as were Council-owned Leisure Centres so people could keep in trim over Christmas.

Not sure why you should praise a certain sector.
