Merseyside Police can confirm enquiries are underway following the discovery of a man’s body in the River Mersey near Otterspool on Tuesday, 1 May 2018.
Emergency services were called at around 3.30pm to Jericho Lane to a report that the body of a man had been seen in the water.
Officers, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service, Coastguard and North West Ambulance Service attended and the man was removed from the water and pronounced dead.
At this time the death is being treated as unexplained and a post mortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and inform next of kin.
