Due to high tides, Southport Beach Car Park will be closed until after high tide on Tuesday May 30.
Due to high tides, Ainsdale Beach Car Park will be closed until after Sunday, May 28.
Please note that beach car parks can be closed at other times, for other reasons such as severe weather or organised events.
The Sefton Coast enjoys over 22 miles of coast and foreshore areas with a range of facilities and nature reserves.
Access to the beaches varies by location and in some areas it may be difficult for pushchairs and wheelchairs to gain access. During the summer beach car parking is available at Ainsdale (PR8 2QB) and Southport (PR9 1RX), while at Lifeboat Road, Formby Point (L37 2EB) disabled access to the beach is provided from the car park. Crosby beach is backed by a promenade, where you can safely view the Another Place ‘Iron Men’.
Only Formby, Ainsdale and Southport are designated bathing beaches. During the summer water samples are taken and there are RNLI Beach Lifeguards on duty. Crosby Beach is not a designated bathing water.

A bit miss leading the headline was. It should have said Due to wet water the mud flats of Sefton south will be closed. If you peasants want to visit the mud flats please remember you are being watched and will be prosecuted if you do anything we think is illegal. This does not apply to criminals as they take no notice of us. This ruling only applies to the scum law abiding tax payers. Please remember we know what is best for you and we are the boss.
