Over forty hardy volunteers who make up the Friends of the Sefton Coast descended on Ainsdale beach last week to clean up after Storm Geraldine.

10 metre high tides washed up tons of debris along the Sefton coast following the storm.

Volunteers worked tirelessly throughout Friday January 12 to clear away driftwood, litter, seaweed and other flotsam which had been dumped on Ainsdale beach by the storm.

In total five trailer loads of rubbish was collected and properly disposed of, along with another 145 bin bags of debris.

A further clean up operation was held at Hightown Beach on Sunday (January 14)
