The recent spell of warm weather has seen thousands of people flocking to the beach at Formby.
Unfortunately some people have left this mess behind for others to clean up.
If you're heading to the beach this #BankHoliday weekend, please remember to bin your rubbish or take it with you! Thank you

Youre spot on- there is ONE bin on the boardwalk and one just by the lifeguard station - like most of the beach and surrounding areas its badly neglected by Sefton council .I have rang them many times about litter problems ,overflowing bins and the general demise of the whole area - what was their response - you know the answer - NOTHING ! Another big problem on the Lifeboat Rd car park is the state some of the horse owners leave it in with horse muck and straw - some days it looks like a stables - why dont they clean up before they leave ? If it was dog muck they would be fined - i also mentioned that to the council too - for their reply read the above ! As soon as its all transferred to the National Trust the better. Sefton Council should be ashamed of how they neglect the beautiful dunes , greens etc - same old song they charge to use it and do nowt to maintain it .

Carry the rubbish in the bags that carried the picnic there in the first place.
Fair enough have big bin areas in the car parks but there is no need for them on the shore.
Disposable barbecues have no place on the coast unless they are used in designated areas containing facilities for their disposal rather than abandonment.
That said the weather looks like it'll have some say and limit the number of visitors.

I've probably had hundreds of picnics in my life - on beaches, fields, mountains, at home and abroad. I have never thought of doing anything other than taking the rubbish home with me. You can't expect (or wish for) litter bins at every beauty spot. If we've carried the food there it is a lot easier and lighter to carry the waste back! What is wrong with people???
Get some litter wardens out there -first step, politely remind people it is their responsibility to take their rubbish home, second step fines.

I have found in our village that litter bins equals litter -overflowing bins, bin bags left by the bins. In some areas the bins have been removed resulting in - less litter. If theres no bins people seem more inclined to take it home!

Sefton Council don't give a monkeys about Formby Dunes and Beach. If they can't charge you to park on it they're not interested. Thats's why they are speaking to the National Trust re gifting Formby Dunes and Beach to them.

Seriously? Do people expect there to be a row of bins all the way along that expanse of sand!
As other people have said, bag it up in what you took it in and take it home with you. It's pure laziness to just leave it there!!

gifting Formby Dunes and Beach to the NT may hit some problems with access to the new walks the NT wants to open up that are south of lifeboat road , the bumpy access road is now walking access only due to the new owner tightening up access on the private road ,the nearest parking will be Lifeboat road , St Lukes or the surrounding housing estates and a good walk out to the new walking routes , one article suggest the NT wants to open up the area to new tourists which could mean more cars , more footfall , more litter and erosion , dont even mention public transport taking the load , it dont exist in that part of the woods ( sic) with the railway station being nearly a mile away , but since the big gridlock we had in the Easter hols a lot of people have appeared to have stayed away over the recent weeks .......
