Officers from British Transport Police are appealing for information following an assault on a train at Liverpool Lime Street.

At approximately 11.30pm on 9 February, the victim – a man in his thirties – opened a toilet cubicle on a train which was stationary at the station.

When he opened the door, a woman was using the toilet, he therefore closed the door immediately. Following this there was a verbal altercation between the victim and another man.

A short while later, the woman left the toilet, approached the victim and hit him. The victim tried to push the woman away but the other man, believed to be the woman’s boyfriend, then approached the victim punching him multiple times. He was struck to the head and his body.

The assault spilled onto the platform, forcing other passengers to intervene.

The man and woman then stayed on the train, which departed towards Crewe.

Officers would like to speak to the man and woman shown in the CCTV images as they might have information which could help the investigation.
