People travelling in the Liverpool City Region are being urged to plan their journeys and check before they travel ahead of planned industrial action by members of Unite and GMB unions on Arriva bus services.

Strike action is due to affect Arriva bus services on Monday 23rd October and Monday 30th October.

How you can help

Consider your alternative travel options. You can use the Merseytravel journey planner.
Check timetables and leave more time for your journey.
Avoid travelling at peak times where possible.
Stick to public transport wherever possible to reduce congestion on key routes in and out of the city centre including Mersey Tunnels.
Speak to your employer about whether there is any flexibility in working times or the possibility of working from home.

Monday 23rd October

Bus services
Arriva services in Merseyside will not be running with the exception of existing park and ride services in Southport.

Services by all other bus operators are due to run as planned.

Arriva tickets will be accepted on Stagecoach or Halton Borough Transport services on the advertised Quality Bus Network – however these services will be very busy. Specific information on exactly where tickets are or aren’t valid can be found on the Merseytravel website.

If you are travelling to Liverpool John Lennon Airport you will need to make alternative arrangements as there will be no bus services running.

ADVICE: As a result other bus services will be busier than normal so plan ahead and allow more time for your journeys.

Rail
Merseyrail and Northern services are due to run as planned.

ADVICE: Expect services to be busier so allow more time for your journeys.
