We are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Southport on Saturday, 30 June.
At around 4pm, a report was received of a collision in London Street involving a Skoda Fabia, a parked car and pedestrians.
A female pedestrian in her 70s was taken by ambulance and remains in hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Three people including two children were also treated for minor injuries. The driver of the Skoda stayed at the scene to help with enquiries.
Constable Kurt Timpson from Matrix Roads Policing Unit said: “This collision occurred on a busy, sunny Saturday afternoon in a packed town centre. Two children and two adult females sustained injuries, but it is only by sheer chance that more people were not hurt in this incident.
“It is important that we fully understand what caused this crash and I am keen to trace anybody who may be able to help our enquiries, who may have either seen the lead up to the crash or who may have dash-cam footage from their vehicles or CCTV footage from their premises.
“If we have not already spoken to you, please get in touch. The two young children involved thankfully only received minor injuries, but were understandably left distressed by what happened.”
Anyone who can help, especially with dashcam or CCTV evidence is asked to contact Police on 101, quoting reference number 18200135955, msg @MerPolCC or you can email 7002@merseyside.police.uk
