Appeal following petrol station robbery in Ormskirk

Police are appealing for information following a robbery at a petrol station in Ormskirk.

The incident occurred at around 12.03am yesterday (Sunday) at the BP Service Station on County Road, when two men wearing face coverings entered the store on foot and demanded cash and cigarettes.

One offender was armed with a hammer, which was pointed towards a customer, while the second offender approached the till armed with a small knife.

The men then made off through the customer entrance, towards Fire Station Island on the A59, with around £265 in cash and almost £100 worth of cigarettes.

DC Martin Sullivan, of Skelmersdale CID, said: “This was a terrifying incident for the member of staff and those who witnessed it, and we are now appealing for any information which could help with our enquiries.

“Maybe you were in the area at the time and saw something, maybe you recognise the descriptions of the men or maybe you overheard someone talking about the incident.

“If you have any information, however small, we would urge you to contact us.”

Both offenders are described as white males, around 5ft 8ins tall, wearing casual clothing and speaking with Liverpudlian accents.
