Actress Sue Johnston appeals for your help to walk for a world without dementia at Liverpool Memory Walk

There are around 18,294 people living with dementia across Merseyside and an estimated 850,000 throughout the UK. My mother, Margaret, had dementia so I understand the difficulties many families face when a loved one is diagnosed with this heart-breaking condition.

Alzheimer’s Society’s flagship fundraising event ‘Memory Walk’ will help raise vital funds to support people with dementia and the millions who care for them, providing a wide range of support services in the local area including; Dementia Support Workers, Singing For The Brain Music Sessions and Dementia Cafes.

The Liverpool Memory Walk will take place at Croxteth Park on Sunday 4th September. It is a great opportunity for people to come together, celebrate someone special, share their experiences and join in the fight against dementia. I hope people will be more determined than ever to fight dementia by signing up to their local Memory Walk and raising funds for such a worthy cause.
