yesterday I sent a cheque by post to Manchester it arrived this morning but the envelope had been opened , the cheque was still in the envelope . doe anyone know how I can make a complain to Royal mail .

Surely it would have been simpler just to look at the Royal Mail website, or the Post Office one?

Had it been ripped open or could the adhesive just have not been sticky enough and it's just come open?

It's obvious the envelope was opened , however I have now made a complaint to the Royal Mail and they assure me that they will investigate the matter .

Complain about what! Letter arrived the next day with content intact, you say opened but could easily have become open.

It wasn't a letter it was a cheque made out to a grandchild , the envelope had obviously been opened .

I was using the general term of a letter, something sent in an envelope. How was it so 'obviously opened'?

Last year my little son was 8, he wrote a letter ( Christmas present list ) to Santa with his name on it ( Dominic Howard ) but not an address only our postcode that he was interested to learn, then he popped it in the postbox, 2 days later there was a knock at the door, it was a postman that had been sent out from the depot in a van especially to our postcode area, he was sent to knock on doors to try and find who sent the letter, he asked is there a Dominic Howard at this address, I confirmed there was. Another 2 days later Dominic got a letter from Santa thanking him for his letter and explaining that he hoped that he would get what he wished for and wishing him a happy Christmas, this year when he writes to Santa we will put a first class stamp on it.

Prior to posting the envelope was further sealed with cellatape . Got it thicko.

Don't get me started with this bunch of jokers. I regularly send off for autographs to actors and stuff and I also order stuff online like DVD's and other things from Amazon, Ebay and the like. My postie has not been bringing stuff to me and I'm constantly contacting Royal Fail .
It seems I'm only allowed post on one day a week and yet all my neighbours get stuff every day. It's a reet pain in the rear end.

Thicko, so quick to resort to name calling take a chill pill. Perhaps had you explained that in your post we wouldn't have had to ask, I bought self-seal envelopes from Poundland and they very easily opened.
