Most postpeople are lovely hard working genuine people that now have to linger around the streets until late or go back to the depot to do further work if they complete their round early when once they could finish after they had done their round due to some jobsworth ideas trying to cost cut.
Then there have been some rogue postpeople that have been found with half a bag of mail at their homes nicking it especially at Christmas when they see an envelope sealed with cellotape indicating that there is something valuable in it like a cash gift, could it have been opened by a rogue postperson that could do nothing with a cheque and thrown back into the post tampered with.

I agree, but you didn't mention the sellotape it your original post.

For this reason I try not to secure envelopes with sellotape (other adhesive tapes are available

) I use Pritt Stick!

I ordered something from a website on November 8th, it says "please allow 18-25 days for delivery. That time is up and we are now on 34 days. My postman is even failing to deliver something that should have been here in the middle of last week.
I'm sick of communicating with the sorting office.
I want a new postman. The one I have got is rubbish

Why assume that the post is at fault, your item may not have been despatched.

It was dispatched, it had tracking info on it. On the site it says it's arrived but it clearly hasn't yet. So I'm blaming the postman

You brought back memories of My late relative Peter Woods,who was one of the longest serving postmen in the UK,as he worked from aged 15 to 65 with the post office,and Pete would work from 3.30am to around 12.00 midday,and then he would work at the old fuel/petrol garage that used to be on Water Lane,in Banks,at the bottom of the now removed railway bridge,and when he was'nt working,just for keeping himself fit,he would regularly be seen riding his bike from High Park over to the Trough of Bowland,and he was told off a few times for stamping a Penny Farthing on peoples post,so that they knew that Pete the Postie had delivered their mail.He even had wrought iron gates made with Penny Farthings on them,they are still there if anyone passes 52 Old Park Lane in High Park you will see them.

I recently ordered a velvet underground and nico tshirt from ebay and paid the £1,99 postage on it, 2 weeks later I got a card delivered from the post office saying the full postage wasn't paid on an item and they wanted me to collect the item from the depot at a cost of £2 so I left it there ripped up the card and reported it as not delivered, the seller sent another recorded, what a fiasco for the sake of a penny.
The last time I got one of these cards I paid the postage charge at the depot to discover the letter was a council tax bill.

Or it could be some jobsworth's idea to have the staff work the hours they're paid to work.
I've some experience of this 'job and finish' culture and it is the most ill conceived concept I've encountered in the workplace. It's a charter for shortcuts and dodgers.

I honestly believe that the Posties are honest 99.9% of the time with the occasional rotten Apple spoiling it for the rest. I think most of the thieving is done in the sorting depots. While it is sometimes down to the standard of packaging it might also be down to the way the package is handled during the sorting process with the outer packaging being damaged loosing the contents. Then there's the rest. Letters sealed with selotape stand out to thieves, some parcels are left in vans at the end of a busy day & go missing . I know Royal Mail are trying their best to catch the Theives but they still find a way around the security precautions.
I have noticed where I live, quite often we don't get a delivery on Mondays for some reason. We have so much mail it's a rare day we don't receive an update or NHS appointment. My Wife has stopped Penpaling due to the amount of mail that goes missing. I don't know why Pen pls do it, but they post of social media, I've written you a letter, I've posted you the letter.I received the letter etc through every stage. So when they don't receive the letter you assume it must have got lost. But when it begins to happen more & more you know someone is being light fingered at the depot. I've had letters that have been opened with a razor blade or just torn open & it's obvious. I'm currently waiting on last minute present for my Wife. It missed both expected delivery days, I've received not dispatch notice or tracking number so I have no idea what has happened to it. I have emailed the seller but received no reply. Going off past experience the weather might be to blame but then i'd expect a prompt reply from the seller. Or given what is happening increasingly in the Postal/Courier industry some one might be getting my present instead of my Wife

Until I get a reply I can't really go pointing fingers yet?

Yea but the second post was around 1pm and not 3 or 4pm and that could make a difference if the correspondence was important to the customers.
