parking ticket transgression were does one stand
hello all ,just a query yesterday I was issued a ticket 1hr after paying for 4hrs.i was called by a fellow buiss colleague id had a ticket ,so I returned to car found it on the opposite side of the dashboard upside down.so repaced iton the pavement side of the dash.as id had a ticket I left it.4hrs later I received a cll from my colleague to say the warden was reticketing the car .o arrival it turned out the warden the same that the recent biker and litter debarcle happened was the issuing warden ! I politly asked why he was issuing a second ticket,he petulantly and disrespectfully said id transgressed by turning the ticket back and therefore reapplied the time left on the said ticket, and it had expired so he was in this rights to issue a further ticket with a very discourteous alright comment.i just looked and walked away.at no time was I discourteous to him,to have received such a response.so question is which of the two fines are valid as they seem at odds as to which are applicable.and also is there any redress regards his discourteous manner.

Appeal the ticket quickly, but this is Southport you would probably have to prove that car wasn't actually there to get it dropped, but certainly can't understand why the prat tried to issue the second ticket.
Mind you, moved my car from one spot to another on Central 12, already had a ticket, but one of the goons was across to my car like a rat up a drainpipe, obviously had seen me park and not go to a ticket machine, didn't ticket me though.

Your rights:
If you’re given a parking fine which you deem to be unfair, there’s not much point taking it up with an individual traffic warden.
They have little power to cancel a fine, and they won’t have any desire to do so. Instead, you’re within your rights to appeal it with the council.
If you plan to go down the appeal route, don’t pay the fine. Doing so is an admission of guilt and you’re unlikely to get the money back.
Contact the council as soon as possible (within 14 days) and outline why you feel the fine isn’t justified.
Use pictures of where the car was parked, along with any signs in the area to support your appeal.
Don't be put off if your appeal is rejected out of hand. Some councils automatically dismiss some claims in the first instance - apply then to an independent adjudicator.
As one adviser says "To avoid getting parking tickets, don't have a car"

Probably don't have a leg to stand on, ticket has to be displayed clearly in the window. By your own admission yours wasn't. They'll have photographic proof of this.
Personally I'd pay the charge while it's half price and learn from my mistake.
1st fine, you had no valid ticket.
2nd fine you overstayed your 4 hrs.
What else did you think was going to happen?

So he did his job, saw you had a ticket and moved on, What is the issue?

Personally, I would pay both tickets at the reduced rate, but appeal the first one. Years ago I had a ticket blow upside down and the council accepted my explanation as I had my ticket still and their photo obviously showed an upside down ticket on the dashboard.

Can't these wardens NOT read anything that is written upside down on a piece of paper ? A trip to a doctors for an eye test,or specsavers is needed ASAP for these people.
The ticket MAY have been correctly displayed originally, but, when closing the door,a draught could have blown the ticket, hence the ticket NOT being displayed correctly,as has happened to me,now I have a clip, attached to the windscreen, which holds the parking ticket,to display the ticket clearly when using a car park
The ones shown below are available on Ebay for £2.00 or less for 2 pieces.

Not quite, I saw him ticket machine in hand, went back and pointed out the ticket, guy tried to say it didn't count as I had moved the car from one location to another, as I was clearly still on the same car park he eventually mooched off still insisting he
was right

I once arrived back at my car parked in Houghton Street to find one of these brain dead numbskulls taking a picture of my car and preparing to write me a ticket. When I questioned him as to why, he informed me that I wasn’t displaying a valid parking ticket. I pointed to my ticket, clearly displayed inside my now defunct tax disc holder. His reply to me was, “well how am I supposed to see it there”

I had a ticket that blew onto the floor and got 'done'.....Taking advice I appealed by letter, enclosing a photocopy of original ticket. I kept my letter very brief and did not mention or admit it that hadn't been on display....Result: I won the appeal and so avoided fine.

When he says up side down, I'm guessing he means face down so unreadable.
Is it really that hard to close your door and check that the ticket is where you left it?

So you can't display it on the dash as requested either.

I presume when the OP said upside down he meant it had flipped over so was face down and couldn't be read.
Grassroots- take the ticket to the office and explain that it was a fairly windy day and the ticket must have flipped over when you closed the door, they will give you a form to fill in. and you will need to present the ticket, you may get away with the first fine but if you stayed over the time on the second then that will still stand.
Silver fox - most tickets/parking restrictions state if you move your car then you need a new ticket. You are effectively paying for the parking space you are parked in. Even if you moved to the next space you would still need a new ticket. It stems from road parking whereby you can't park then come back once your ticket has run out, move a foot forward and put a new ticket on as that would void the parking restrictions of one hour in four with no return.

*Always* appeal - this was the advice of a Police Sgt [given in a social setting] who said that a surprisingly high % of appeals are granted.
People don't bother because either they haven't time or don't think they will win.
As an aside the 'No Overnight Parking' signs for Birkdale station car park are inside the station waiting room!!!
I appealed and won after leaving my car there following getting a late cab back and went to collect the car the next day - ticketed!
I hope they have now placed the notice _in the actual car park!!!_

It seems perfectly reasonable to place it clearly visible in a holder in the windscreen where it can't flip over rather than leave it on the dash where it might flip over.
