Combi boilers, like most modern crap, are designed to fail within 15 years. Expect repairs before that. The "green" lobby somehow thinks it's more environmentally friendly to recommend inferior appliances that end up in the tip before you've barely got used to them rather than the old boilers that went on for donkey's years because there was less to go wrong.

Vaillant are a good brand, I'd go with them or Worchester. Don't be tempted to go for something cheap.

Yes, I agree! I also agree with Jamyramy - these are not built to last anymore, nowhere as good as the older models.

Can only go of my own experience. First one I got was cheap and nasty, cost an absolute fortune and had to be replace after about 4 years. Then got a Vaillant, which was trouble free for 10 years before we moved house. Now have a Worchester, which has been trouble free for 11 years so far. Never had to replace parts on either of them. They get hammered as we have the heating on 24/7/365 with radiators on thermostats.

Mine has an annual service, do you have a service contract or use a plumber?
I'm currently using a service contract, covers various things that I've never had call to use.

Combi boilers in general are useless. You cant run the taps too fast or the water starts to go cold. If you have a large bath then the water cools before you can fill it. I'd stick with the old immersion heater if possible, if not then get a new boiler but just not a combi.

Never had a problem with my FER Combi boiler been going 18 years, never been serviced / repaired. As much hot water as you want when you want, no need to heat up water you're not going to use.

I'd check out your system, settings or water pressure, I can run a hot tap on full with no issue and fill a bath with hot water also without issue.

I might be saving money with my new Worcester/Bosch combi but last winter found me up a ladder with a hair-dryer on the two coldest days trying to defrost the condensate pipe. Never had that problem with my old Ferroli.
