Why is Phillip Green not in jail??
How can a man who has "robbed" employees of hard earned pensions, and received millions of pounds in bonuses from hugely failed companies avoided jail. If its not illegal what he has done it is certainly immoral!!

He can do it because he sets his wife up in a foreign bolt hole and puts everything in her name.
You don't get to be a £multi-millionaire by being honest and squeaky clean and doing everything above board. Christ! Amber Rudd makes Dick Turpin look like the Archbishop of Canterbury.

You've partly answered your question - to quote LJ Ward in the Court of Appeal - "this is a court of law, not of morals".
The difficulty is that the only offence which could have led to imprisonment is fraudulent trading which is notoriously difficult to prove. He is still under investigation for wrongful trading (a civil offence) and he has paid £363m into the pension scheme following a negotiation with the pensions regulator.
Not defending him, but if I were a BHS pensioner, I would rather have the money than the pleasure of seeing him in prison.

Although your sentiment is still valid, I think you might be confusing Philip Green of BHS fame with Philip Green of Carillion fame - same name but 2 different people.

If you can steal enough, you can pay the people you need to, to keep yourself out of trouble.

Yep - although again the best he can be done for is probably wrongful trading - which is the view of the parliamentary committee. He'll be disqualified from being a director, but he is hardly likely to be the top of anybody's list for hiring anyway.

Can't let the truth get in the way of a good story, better still lock them both up.

Shouldn't your post read "infamy" rather than fame, wonder if all the free enterprise supporters are happy with these activities?
