What do you do with out of date medicine and pills?

Hi, I have sorted out the medicine box. The out of date medicines and pills.

What do I do with them?

Will the chemist take the and destroy them correctly? If so which chemist.

Do I put them in the dustbin?

I know not to put them down the toilet.

Any chemist will dispose of them correctly. Hope that helps

Yes, take them to any chemist for them to be destroyed, you will probably be asked if there are any sharps (needles) in with the items but that's all.
Chemists have particular bins that OOD drugs are put in and then these are collected by specialist firms.

I have often wondered how the out of date drugs are actually destroyed.
I know - I know - a sad case of nothing better to think about!
Are there any pharmacists on this site that actually know what happens to the drugs or do they just pass them on, glad to be rid of them?
