Wake up Sefton - Southport is a holiday town
We went to Ainsdale beach yesterday with our grandson and it was idyllic. The beach was clean, the tide was in and a parking fee of £5 is reasonable especially as we weren't packed in like sardines.
Compare that to the beach at Southport - what's left of it - and it's diminishing by the month. No comparison. When will the powers that be (whomever they are) get with the programme and realise that Southport needs tourists to make some money and tourists won't come to grot spots.
I rang Splash World today to enquire about opening times but guess what? They only open on Saturdays and Sundays until the school holidays - and this is in the middle of the best heatwave we've had for years. Surely somebody must be able to make the decision that there's money to be made if they open NOW??? Again, Southport needs someone with guts to be able to persuade the Bootle Brigade that we need help.
And don't get me started on the libraries! How many did Southport lose and yet Bootle/Crosby et al retained theirs....................

And everywhere else on Merseyside and probably the rest of the country due to Dave and george's cuts.

Comparing Crosby Beach and St. Annes Beaches to Southport, leaves Southport with much to be desired. Sadly many green spaces i.e. Public Parks are being sold off for developments across the UK.

Bootle town centre retained 1 and Southport town centre retained 1. Southport had 12 million pounds plus invested in the Atkinson complex, which includes the library.

Plenty of green space to the north of the pier.
