Vehicles Parked Here Without Authorisation Will Be Clamped
So says the half dozen or so signs on the wall outside the apartments at the Hesketh Park end of Cambridge Rd, Southport.
There are no yellow lines or any other markings to suggest that parking isn't allowed at this location and nor are there any signs other than the ones mentioned above.
Is it fair to assume that this threat of being clamped has no legal basis to it?

Not only has it no legal basis, the threat itself is illegal.

It is classed as obstructing the highway if you park ANYWHERE but if there are no Yellow Lines/Signed Parking Restrictions/ and you are not parked in a manner likely to cause obstruction (miles from the kerb/over someones drive/within 10 metres of a junction unless authorised) no one bothers but some people think THEY own the piece of road outside their house which they don't.
