    Useless add on's.

Does anyone actually use the ribbons on tops and dresses to hang them up on?

If I leave them on my arm go's in the loop.
I have a box full of snipped off ribbon's.

I have a box full of them to use for other more useful purposes.

I could understand the need for extra support with heavily sequinned
    dresses.

The ribbons do need stuffing back in the dress.

Annoyingly sometimes they are plastic and you know what happens to
    that when ironed!

Couple of years ago my washing machine would not empty. Called out the engineer who got the water to drain. There was one of those ties stuck in the motor. First thing I do now is to cut them off
It has been said that when helping people change their behaviour – “the spirit in which help is offered” is the most important aspect, more than the degree of skills and knowledge of the helper!

I mostly cut them off. Unless it is an item that's quite heavy or likely to slip off a hanger, say a thick cardigan. They are irritating though.

American's call the clear plastic ones spaghetti straps.
Apparently they are for displaying the garment for sale mostly and can be discarded by the buyer.

The ribbon type are for the life of the garment hanging.
As if one could be bothered!

Just buy good hangers is my motto.

I snip them off and use them for crafts. They do seem to be 'neither use nor ornament' especially when most shops don't bother to use them anyway.
I'm only happy when it rains....
