Travellers back on Preston New Road

When driving past the old funeral director's house (recently sold) on Preston New Road yesterday afternoon I noticed sheets, bedding, towels, etc. draped on the railings surrounding the property. I imagined it must be the new owner and couldn't believe anyone could behave in such an anti social manner. However, on my return journey I noticed the travellers' vans on that plot of land and it was obvious the house is not yet inhabited and so they'd availed themselves of the railings to do their laundry, which is typical behaviour I guess. Having not been challenged when they set up camp last time, who can blame them for returning and just when is someone going to get a grip of this situation?

Mmmh! True - wish I could get away with half as much as they do, I would really save my money and gain a lot in the process.

By the way - has anyone noticed the large horse van on the old Kingsway site? Dark Blue. It has been there for about four days now - no horses in it, just some clothing and rubbish. A little way out to the side of it, someone has put some old tyres presumably to stop anyone parking next to it. Does anyone know whose it is?

Someone lives in the house and the gypsies draped all their laundry over his fences yesterday and again today.
The good thing for him is he will be moving out once the sale is completed.

Ask your lovely MP to lobby for a change in the law. At present Notice has to be served which does not require immediate withdrawal from the land.
It must be said though that any attempt to change this is doomed from the start - they'll start citing everything from the Yooman Rites Act to membership of the Tufty Club in thwarting the Authorities.
As far as the travellers believe - we're racist to expect them to behave in a civilised manner.

If a group of vigilantes set fire to one of the caravans during the night I reckon that the others would soon disappear and not return.

I read recently that the Council are to fine householders without dropped kerbs from driving over the pavement. Why then are the powers that be not interested when 4 x 4's complete with caravans, etc. drive over kerbs, playing fields, football pitches, etc. etc? Cowards the lot of them.

I also read about an old guy who dropped a cigarette butt and got fined and a lady whose baby dropped something from a pram similarly fined and yet the 'travellers' i.e. dossers leave loads of the stuff behind when they go. I'm sure when they left Ferryside Lane they left a derelict caravan so why isn't that classed as fly tipping?

Yet another post riddled with half truths and urban myth.

No 'lady' would be fined for the 'baby' dropping litter from a pram - it's not possible in law.

'Dossers' leaving rubbish - they're homeless - where would you track them down to when they don't pay the fine? Similar logic applies to the travellers.

I've said it before and no body - not one of the keyboard warriors on here took me up on the offer - I'll go down there to the travellers and challenge them but I'm not stupid enough to do it on my own.
'Cowards' - the only cowards are those posting on here from the safety of their keyboards whilst extolling the 2 person enforcement team (one of whom is a 5 foot nothing lady) to go out and deal with the siuation.

To deal effectively with this alleged culture, (mobile crime wave is my preferred description), requires a fundemental mind change in how much support the Police will give to the Council workers in dealing with them.
At the moment it is 0.0000 of 0 and - the Police aren't interested because it ties up resources and is too much of a minefield around cultural sensitivity and Yooman Rites.

You all harumph and cluck about them not doing anything yet do nothing, absolutely nothing yourselves - some even hide behind the statement - 'they're paid to do a job' - it makes me sick.

We go down there and there would be a hell of an argument which would turn out as a riot! The Police would not arrest the travellers even if they started it - they would arrest the local home owners to whom they could issue a hefty fine. There is only one way to deal with these people and that is anonymously in the dead of night. I will go with you.

Well neither her nor the baby had deposited the litter and so the ticket was wrongly issued- if she's daft enough to accept that then what can anyone do.

Personally I'm not keen on getting imprisoned for murder, attempted murder, manslaughter or arson but said says he'll nip down there with you.
