It would really depend on what you are looking for when buying a house. You have a choice of purchasing a property that requires modernisation or you can purchase a house that has been well maintained. Generally, the street house prices are a guide as to what to expect as well as the general appearance of the house.

With the new builds - I cannot speak for all of them, but I was working on the site of one of the new estates for six months. The site supervisor and managers were the only people who spoke my language. The number and type of repairs needed to the show house, that no-one was living in was enough to put me off.
