There's a lot to be said for a 2nd vote in 2019 once our leaving terms have been finalised....

2 Points, Thatcher should have been hung for treason, but these things don't happen unfortunately.

Tell me, are those who were in favour of remain not allowed to hold and state their opinion, the referendum took a particular course and result, it did not carry a vow of silence, did not give some dictatorial authority to anyone, I know for one if I'm told to jump of a cliff blindfolded, I would like to know what's beneath.

Would also add that Brexit cheerleaders at the time were more than happy to shout that a close result in favour of Remain would not be regarded as final and they would continue to campaign for an exit from Europe, why the moans when people exercise their totally democratic right to voice their opinion?

Agree....and when the job losses to Europe and the U.S. start to mount up (Vauxhall-Peugot affair, fleeing London bankers, etc) those adversely affected will have second thoughts.

So, we give notice to leave the EU, spend the next two to five years negotiating the exit terms, and if we don't like it, we just say,........erm, think we'll stay after all. I'm sure the other twenty seven Countries will welcome us back with open arms.

I'd have thought that the prospect of Vauxhall Motors shutting would have right up your street.

It wouldn't be a case of 'Welcoming Back', if negotiations have failed the status quo would prevail, i.e. not left, no renegotiation required.

Why would there be job losses to the US of all places ? The banking losses by and large, if they happen, won't be lost, they'll simply be relocated overseas. Many people will move with the jobs and to be honest a shrinking in the UK financial services sector would not necessarily be a bad thing, the South East is badly overheated and it may lead some of the brightest and best to look at other options which would be good for the talent pool in other industries.

Peugeot will close Ellesmere Port regardless of the EU.

I very much doubt the other Countries would publicly welcome us back but privately they would all be relieved.
I believe the jumping off the cliff blindfolded with out knowing what was at the bottom is a good analogy but like most people I believe our Government will iron out any wrinkles after the fact, that will best benefit our {their pockets} Country.
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms ... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants, they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

    A) There already are....an international financial company recently announced closing its London HQ and will in future be operate from the U.S. But I suspect banking/financial services looking to get out, will be more tempted to relocate to Europe rather than the U.S. E.g. to France/Germany, who will be more than willing to pinch our business by wooing them over.

    B) Debatable...but continuing to produce here with barriers going up post-Brexit, like tariffs and customs issues really doesn't help.

Perhaps, after Brexit, a British entrepreneur will lead a resurgence of the UK excellence in mass car production.

    I like this quote.

“There is some irony that Tony Blair, a former prime minister who will forever be remembered for deceiving the British people, will try to resurrect his political corpse by trying to deceive the British people once again.”

But is that not we do every time we vote in an Election. Governments and MP's rarely deliver on the promises they make prior to getting elected, you only have to look at some of the wild promises made, (by both sides) in the recent referendum debates.

It's probably changed now but there was a time when companies insisted on "British" cars in their fleets, so you could have a Ford built in Holland or Spain, or a Vauxhall built in Germany but couldn't have a Honda(Swindon), Toyota (Derby) or Nissan (Sunderland).
