Just another Tory appointment in the Boris mold, I notice the Johnson clan are all busily getting involved in low level intelligence "reality" shows, maybe trying to get as much money and publicity as possible before someone wakes up and boots Boris onto the back benches or even better deports him somewhere, anywhere.

The whole political set up in Westminster is - according to the media reports we receive - a complete farce!

An excellent appointment. Has an analytical brain. Has set up 4 successful schools. Doesn't do politically correct bollocks....

Those whining about him being a Tory.... well, they won the bleedin' election for goodness sake. What do you expect?

Now try the truth for a change, check out this https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rc...jylCAp0leNY4Im

It isn't so much that he's a Tory, more that he represents the overbearing arrogance that only the few (of which of course he is very much at the forefront) can actually decide what's best and all those who disagree are ignorant, ill educated idiots, who know nothing. Should you care to read the article you will find that he has stepped down as CEO, initially went through more headmasters (who all resigned) than even the worst football club.

Not particularly into PC bull myself, but this guy is so full of his own self importance he wouldn't recognise any comment, strategy or proposal unless he made it, how anyone with such a dogmatic closed mind can be appointed to this position is ludicrous, far from having an analytical brain, he has a totally closed rat trap brain.

    An excellent appointment?

That phrase speaks volumes about the mind the arrogance and the intelligence of your typical Tory voter.

It really depends on what you believe. According to Wikopedia, Young is most certainly an interesting character to appoint to any position - notwithstanding the times he has been sacked etc., he most certainly has had good fortune on his side.

Certainly had a chequered career, interestingly this guy refers to being averse to dumbing down, yet has been involved in a number of low level "reality" tv shows, interesting sure, competent to be in charge of anything? doubt it.

I don't think that he is a good appointment, but equally I don't think that many people really understand the role of the Office for Students, or the fact that he is only one Board member out of 14.

There are many better right of centre thinkers on higher education out there, but to be honest, they have far more impact outside the tent P**sing in than being on the board of a regulator with a pretty dreary brief. The OfS is largely concerned with making sure that little Jonny gets the opportunity to complain if the lectures aren't to his liking or ensuring he's not prevented from listening to lectures from Nigel Farage or somebody from Hamas.

The real debates and policy decisions are about funding, the role of higher education and industrial policy - which are nothing to to with OfS.

Another scalp for the leftard mob. I don't blame him. No wonder it is so difficult to get intelligent and experienced people to work in public services. He'll no doubt be replaced by an approved politically correct, but useless, dimwit as usual.

Depends what you class as intelligent, if your definition includes being an arrogant, ignorant know it all, then he may be classed as a loss in some quarters however when even Tory politicians wanted him gone and felt the appointment was a bad mistake, who do class as "leftards" among Tories?

This guy built his reputation on being a nasty, conscience free "journalist", with little if any connection to the truth, managing to get fired from from just about every job he had, just the sort of person you want in any authority or decision making position
