This Christmas tree, a one off or for ever more?

Southport BID (Southport shop owners) paid for the what is called a Christmas Tree aka Led light display.

So, will it be used just for this Christmas, will it be sold to some gullible other BID team for next Christmas. or will it be used again in Southport for years to come ?

I hope it's a one off. It is ghastly. A pile of scrap with a few LEDs wrapped around. I'd like a real tree, or a plastic one that looks like a real tree.

Not some 'TRON' version of a Christmas tree.

Judging from what I've seen around the country: it's a national trend...

Obviously I've not seen the one in Southport, but I've seen enough of that type of "tree". If you can call that a tree, you can call me a supermodel! Nothing compares to a traditional Christmas tree. Why on earth anyone would want to replace it with that, is beyond me.

It looks awful and could only have been commissioned by someone without any taste or respect for tradition. It looks like it's been designed by a Health & Safety officer jobsworth. No doubt the chronic bore from BID will be waxing lyrically in the next Midweek Visiter about how this "fantastic success" means local businesses should keep on paying the extra local tax that funds his salary... After all, he practically does that every week.

According to the Echo last week nobody is happy with the Xmas Trees this year, Bootle, Crosby & Maghull are all dissatisfied as are the people of Wigan.

Drove past Central 12 tonight. They've got a proper tree. Well done. Puts the BID meccano set to shame.

It has been said that when helping people change their behaviour – “the spirit in which help is offered” is the most important aspect, more than the degree of skills and knowledge of the helper!
