What about the things we see today that we never used to see?
I don't mean modern inventions such as Mobiles etc.

Gas mantles
Christmas Day postal delivery
Bin cart pulled by a horse
Sweets on ration
Loose tea for sale in corner shop
Biscuits sold from metal tins.
All seen as a young boy in Southport.

I only remember the biscuits sold in metal tins from your list.
Southport Moors Market late 1960's.
Something one only sees in Antique Shops now-those open fire implements on a stand usually brass.
Poker and toast fork.
How many people remember eating bread toasted over an open fire?

You can't beat 'doorstep' toast done on the embers of an open fire and covered in butter (or margarine when we were kids as butter was for special occasions); Likewise, fresh crumpets also tasted better that way. Oh happy days !

Roasting chestnuts on an open fire, mind you my Dad once managed to get some into the fire, they don't half go off with a bang if you do that, Mum wasn't happy with bits of chestnut flying round the room.

My first taste of toasted bread was over the fire at my grandparents house in Southport.
My Grandfather holding me and hand over the toast fork.Oooh the heat.
Still have parents brass toasting-fork here....Now it's used to toast on the multifuel, whilst wearing a welding glove as defence against the heat. Baking potatoes turn out well too.
