So far the voting has put the Shankly Hotel, Liverpool in second place for the UK's ugliest buildings. Who on earth allowed this monstrosity to be built completely ruining the vista of a famous historical building? It would appear that the architect has not gone much further than primary school drawings and an equal level of comprehension of town planning.

I agree with you on that one. It is a very depressing front now and the entrance to the station itself is not much better, it is dark and sad!

I think real architects must have died out.

The more modern buildings show that architects have an average intelligence age of five years. Look at any primary school kids drawing of a building - and that is what is being built now.

That extension is terrible.

One's in Southport that are bad are, the job centre on Eastbank Street and Royal Park on the corner of Grosvenor and Waterloo Road spring to mind.
