The New Surface On Lord Street
The bit that has been 'completed' between Eastbank Street and Lord Street West, I take it that part has now been completed, if it is, Sefton Council want to be asking for their money back. It looks alright (apart from the colour) but it's not the smoothest. Who did they get in to do the job the cheapest company or the one with the most apprentices?

Probably the cheapest and the company with the most apprentices. Drove on it yesterday and agree with your view.
REST IN PEACE THE 96.

Dowhigh allegedly.
This company seems to have an exclusive contract for Sefton highway works.

So I take it you're happy with the standard of the new surface on Lord Street?
When Sefton Council put the job out to tender, they wouldn't have given companies who were bidding on the work two options, one for a level surface at a higher price and one for a half ársed job at a much lower price.
The road would probably have been better left as it was.

If it is Dowhigh they obviously haven't renewed any pavements near you as they have down our road. in the few years since they replaced it it is now worse than the probable 50/60+ year old Southport CB one they took up. Gang of cowboys with some hold over Sefton MBC or perhaps just plain old nepotism a'la Dowds.

Quite sure that the cardboard cut-out pointing local clowncillor will be issuing a lengthy, incomprehensible statement on the issue.

Just hope they have got rid of that skiddy patch by the roundabout near Morrisons.

Southport should have got the funding for the red tarmac from Sefton, after all the income they got this year from the Open Golf (all the council owned ground used for car parking, the common land used by Sky on the round hill) plus the Air Show and Musical Fireworks.

Dowhigh Ltd., started up by an Irishman, Dominick Murray has been an approved contractor to Sefton Council for many years, the quality of the work on Lord Street matches the recent resurfacing work on Liverpool Road, Birkdale.

The recent resurfacing of the tarmac at St. Luke's Bridge is of a higher standard than Lord St.
