The English are a quietly confident nation, with no chips on our shoulders, who don't feel the need to have flag waving histrionics accompanied by large groups of warm beer soaked "plastic" English people desperate to jump on the bandwagon.

You contagrious stupid person of course we should show pride in our national flag, men and women fought and died for it and England .

And for your information I'm NOT a beer soaked plastic Englishman jumping on any band wagon , I'm a proud Englishman who served my country for 23 years , saw conflict and came through it . You cheeky git .

That hit a few nerves and in the process you missed my point completely. What I was saying was
I'm proud of being English, but find displays of flag waving vulgar and un-English - we don't need to bang on about our nationality in the way that say, the Irish do, garnering every plastic paddy going into a festival of Guinness drinking and silly outfits. I said nothing about your Englishness.

Albion102 - What do you mean by "plastic" English people? I am sick of everyone celebrating St Patrick's Day and then everyone having a problem with the English being patriotic when it comes to St George's Day. So many other UK nationals are anti-English at the moment that it is more important than ever to show your pride in being English. It seems everyone but the English are allowed to show how proud they are of their nationality.

I'd say very few knock, you just like to be offended.
Biggest problem the St Georges flag has ATM it the anti-Semitic groups using it as their flag. Which I find far more offensive.
