In the film the grass on the promenade is parched yellow as it was this summer.

Notice the beach north of the pier? Lots of lovely golden sand and hardly a blade of grass in place. Oh how times have changed....

In 2011 an excellent publication entitled "A Timeline of Sefton's Changing Coastline" was released. It's a 52 page booklet, detailing the coastal changes from 22,000 years ago to 2011, complete with illustrations.

It's incredible how many changes have occurred, long before either Sefton Council and Southport County Borough Council were heard of! The blame for the majority of changes can be placed on Mother Nature. Human activities, such as training walls and the dredging of the Mersey and Ribble, have resulted in changes. When these activities cease, the coast changes once more.

The online publication is no longer available, but I still have it on my PC. For anyone who might be interested in reading it, I've attached the PDF below for download... that is, if it works!
