Southport could have a Conservative MP in June!
Our current MP John Pugh had a slender 1322 vote majority at the 2015 General Election (John Pugh = 13,652, Damien Moore = 12,330)
Wouldn't take much of a swing to Conservative to oust him!

Of course that is all perfectly true.....But while there's an increased lead of Tory over Labour in the polls, they also indicate something of a Lib-Dem 'bounce-back'. Add in the fact that people are understandably a little weary of elections/referendums right now, so a lower turnout on the day is likely imo.
Ad let's not forget the Brexit effect either. Lib-Dems are more pro-Europe than the Tories, which should bode well for them locally. Why? Because in the main, it was the more educated/affluent who voted to remain - and Southport has more than its fair share of that group compared to traditional Labour areas. Given the evaporation of a promised £350m for the NHS, along with most of the other Brexit stuff also turning out to be hot air, minds may now have changed.
N.B. I'll be taking a punt on John being returned, if I can find a willing bookie, lol!

What a load of rubbish "the more educated/affluent voted remain" so in your mind the Tory Party is made up of **** poor thicko's. You really are on a different planet.

To be fair, all three major parties wanted to stay in Europe. It's a slender majority of the general public that didn't.

I think that the more educated/affluent are less likely to blindly follow the Tory press and their machinations and less likely to be persuaded by the populist gripes of the 'nasty' crew of the Tory Brexit frontmen.
Don't go to bed angry. Stay up and plot your revenge.

Show's how thick you are, £350m was never promised to the NHS, the quote was we send the EU £350m per week, lets fund the NHS instead. No where did it say they were going to give them the £350m who ever gets in power should give the NHS more cash but for services and care not excessive managers and countless supervisors.

Not the party. Tory voters. Not **** poor. Not yet.
Give them 5 more years, though. When they've crushed the poor and the working class, who do you think they'll hit next? The banks that have bled the country dry? Big business that avoids paying tax? Foreign money scooping up property they'll never set foot in?
Nope. The middle classes. You really think the Nasty Party will look after their own?

I read today that Pugh isn't standing. Any confirmation of this?

Found this link http://www.southportvisiter.co.uk/ne...wn-mp-12911953
saying that he is not going to stand
It has been said that when helping people change their behaviour – “the spirit in which help is offered” is the most important aspect, more than the degree of skills and knowledge of the helper!

And of course George Osbourne promised that the economy would go into free fall the moment we voted leave. Neither side covered themselves in glory. For me the "enabling" of the likes of Theresa May and David Davies is far more damaging to society and the economy than leaving Europe per se. Sadly this cunning plan will cement their position.

There are many educated people who voted to Leave. We clearly cannot trust the Liberal Non-Democrats or Labour to get the UK the best deal when we leave the EU. Labour MP's were saying they had no confidence in Corbyn last year, yet they think he could lead our country now? Blimey, imagine having Corbyn or Farron as PM and representing us around the world.
With regard to the £ 350 million for the NHS - we haven't left the EU yet and it was an example of where the money we send the EU could be spent - it wasn't a "promise". Also, what is "the other Brexit stuff" that you state has turned out to be "hot air". I think you will find it is the Remain side and particularly the Liberal non-democrats who were selling 'project fear' and telling us how the country would see huge job losses and be left in a financial crisis by leaving the EU - companies are continuing to invest in the UK even with the knowledge that we are leaving the EU.
Just a reminder of the contents of the generic email John Pugh sent me and other constituents in January, continuing with Lib non-dem's scare mongering over leaving the EU:
" potentially disastrous consequences for my constituents"
" if the economy deteriorates there will be less money for the troubled NHS" - no mention of the extra 6.22 million people living in the UK since the year 2000 having an impact on NHS services or the impact of further uncontrolled immigration from the EU as part of remaining in the single market from Mr Pugh though.
"A recent poll incidentally found that 90% of the British public want to remain in the single market" - sending the results of a poll to his constituents as if it is fact. Guaranteed most of the 17.4 million of us who voted to leave don't want to stay in the single market if it means accepting free movement of labour from EU member states. We want our government to decide who is allowed to come to the UK, not the EU.
What I am happy to see from another of his emails was that he confirms his constituents only voted to remain by a small percentage.
"although the country voted by a small percentage to exit, my constituents voted by a small percentage to remain"

At the last general election both the Lib Dems and Cons saw their share of the vote in Southport drop whilst Labour's share doubled.
